After my studies I worked as a systems manager for ten years at ETH Zurich. In 2006 I started my own business and started working full time for OETIKER+PARTNER AG.

A project is a success for me if the customer can use my product successfully and if it is designed in such a way that I can explain to someone with joy and pride the internal structure and what considerations have led to the different design choices.

Open Source Software

Since 1994 I am an active open source developer. Meaning that I publish whenever possible the source code of my software products. I have published a number of popular applications in this way, such as MRTG, RRDtool and SmokePing.

In 2006 I received together with Dave Rand the LISA (formerly SAGE) Outstanding Achievement Award for my work on MRTG and RRDtool.
